Band Manager: Ron Brown

I joined the Kempenfelt Pipes & Drums in January 1996 as a mature student piper. (You're never too young or old to learn the pipes). My then, 12 year old daughter, already a student piper with the band, convinced me to try it as well. I haven't looked back since. I held the position of Public Relations Officer with the Band prior to being elected Band Manager. In 2001, I had the opportunity to tour and play in Scotland with The Canadian Massed Pipes & Drums. During that tour we played 13 performances that included a performance at the Edinburgh Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle and the Braemar Highland Gathering where the Royal Family is in attendance. As an added note my Son-in-law, who is with the Canadian Armed Forces, is also a very accomplished piper. Before being transferred, he was the Pipe Sergeant with the Kempenfelt Pipes & Drums. The opportunities, experiences and friendships I have made over the years within the piping community will last a lifetime.
